Regarding the re-development of the Preston Barracks site in the Lewes Road, if the artist's impression on the front page of The Argus (November 7) is anywhere near representative of what we can expect to see, I say well done and start laying the foundations.
The lines and curves are blended in such a fashion as to promote the idea of strength. It would be an area to be admired at the approach to the city.
At the other end of the city the proposed King Alfred design will do nothing to enhance the area. No attempt has been made by the architect to blend the building with existing structures.
The so-called Tin Can Towers are like a painting by Picasso. Everyone looks and walks away wondering what it is all about.
