Think you have a tricky commute in the mornings? Then consider Steven Homewood's incredible journey to get to his job as a dental technician in Brighton.
The 50-year-old lives with his wife and baby daughter on the Isle of Bute in the Western Isles of Scotland.
In the morning he sets off for work, walking along the shore for a mile and a half, getting the ferry to the mainland, train to Paisley, bus to Glasgow airport, plane to Gatwick and another train to Brighton, where he picks up his bike to pedal the final leg of the journey to his dental lab.
After a year Steven has got his commute down to a fine art, arriving at work four-and-a-half hours and approximately 560 miles later.
Steven works three long days on the South Coast and sleeps at his mother's Brighton home before making the trip back to Scotland again to spend the remainder of the week relaxing with his family.
He said: "I really enjoy it, it's a very interesting journey and I have a little nap on the plane or train."
Brighton-born Steven keeps his travel expenses down to £300 a month.
He said: "I buy tickets on the internet three months in advance. It's quite cheap.
"Considering housing is much cheaper up there, it's not too bad financially.
"My wife's family are originally from Scotland so she feels at home up there. I come from Brighton but we feel we've got the best of both worlds now."
