I notice with dismay that the park and display zone has now been extended to the west of King Alfred.
I am advised there must be uniformity between Brighton and Hove now we are one City.
As a resident who loves our City and has lived here for 50 years, I pay my council tax and am happy to see the City prosper and flourish as it has.
I often drive to Hove lagoon to walk and (in the summer) swim.
My friends and I fear we will soon be unable to use the prom unless we can afford to pay daily parking charges. This also applies to the families who use the lagoon play area and paddling pool, one of the few places where they can take their children without paying.
While parking restrictions must apply in and around the city centre to ease congestion, we must surely be available to park in these areas of promenade free of charge?
The council might point out that we have a free zone along part of Marine Drive but I want to walk by the seashore and not be restricted to looking down on it from a height. Some of us are unable to manage the steps down to it anyway.
Other seaside resorts still leave the far ends of their promenades for parking and walking free of charge, why not here?
Please will the council respond to this question?
