N Harwood says the car beats buses in terms of cost (Letters, November 14).
But a car costs £100/£120 per week (two thirds of the time standing still).
He hasn't taken into account MOT, petrol, road tax, insurance, oil and servicing.
In comparison, the bus is very cheap - as are taxis. I saved a great deal of money by giving up my car in 1990.
I also do not suffer the lottery of finding parking spaces.
