Dwayne Plummer hopes to complete his transfer to Crawley Town in time to feature against Dorchester Town as the Reds aim to get back on track.
The former Bristol Rovers midfielder has been on trial at the Broadfield Stadium for two weeks and manager Francis Vines has decided to sign him permanently from Bath City to take a closer look.
"I wanted to take a closer look at Dwayne but he couldn't play for us in the league unless he was signed on so we are making the transfer permanent," said Vines.
"The deal should go through some time today and that would mean he is available to play on Saturday if selected."
Plummer played for Crawley in their Sussex Senior Cup clash with Horsham YMCA ten days ago, scoring one and setting up two in the 7-1 win, but was ineligible for the 4-0 defeat at Hinckley last Saturday, the Reds' first defeat in 14 league games.
Goalkeeper Andy Little is the only player ruled out through injury so 19-year-old Craig Holloway will play the second game of a loan spell from Premiership outfit Arsenal.
