I was appalled to read your article regarding the estate agent signs advertising school fairs (The Argus, November 22).
I was even more enraged to read a council spokesman saying: "The whole place looked a mess."
Has this short-sighted imbecile not had a walk around Brighton lately?
The city is disgusting, encrusted with rubbish and litter wherever you go. Outside almost every cashpoint is someone begging and if you don't meet a drunk in the city centre, you are very lucky indeed.
Brighton and Hove City Council's inability to fund our schools to the required levels is bad enough but to try to curtail the use of what, after all, is a tiny amount of advertising to boost school funds is utterly contemptible.
I would like to see those responsible removed from their respective positions. After all we council tax-payers surely have the right to expect them to carry out their duties not only responsibly but sensibly.
If the sign outside my house is taken down, I will erect a new one stating that the advertising of the schools Christmas fair has been removed by the council.
A special thanks to Avard and Wyatt and Son for their support.
