Darren Freeman was on the scoresheet as Withdean marched into the third round with a comfortable victory over Bedfont at Woodside Road.
Mark Pulling and Florian Mateos, both borrowed from landlords Worthing for the game, also found the net as Bob Hitchcock's side secured a trip to Devon to face Bideford in the next round.
Hitchcock said: "It is always nice to have a run in the Vase. We know we are not going to take the competition by storm but this was a pleasing result and a good all-round performance."
Young defender John Standing opened the scoring in the first five minutes, then Pulling netted twice to put Withdean in control by half time.
Mateos, who recently switched from Withdean to Worthing, made an impact on his return as he stepped off the substitutes' bench to put the home side 4-0 ahead.
Former Albion striker Freeman, now player-coach at Worthing but playing for Withdean to gain match fitness, hit the fifth goal before Bedfont struck a late consolation.
John Keeley, 42, had been due to play in goal for Withdean but he is playing for Albion Reserves this afternoon so Michael Oakley returned between the posts despite suffering from an injury.
