Albion midfielder John Piercy has vowed there will be no holding back if he keeps his place for Saturday's home game against Wrexham.
Piercy's first team breakthrough under Mark McGhee was marred by a rare red card for two bookable offences in the closing stages of last Saturday's 2-1 win at Notts County.
The former Tottenham player, replacing the suspended Gary Hart on the right flank, was punished for two tackles.
Piercy said: "Obviously getting sent-off isn't what you want but it wasn't for something stupid like hitting somebody.
"Some people would say it was stupid because I had already been booked just a couple of minutes earlier but I'm not a stupid player.
"I wouldn't have made the tackle unless I thought I was going to win it and I thought I touched the ball then caught the man.
"I got sent-off in a reserve game once but that was years ago at Spurs. I'm not that sort of player but it was that sort of game on Saturday, all hands on deck.
"It will be the same this Saturday. If a tackle is there to be made and I am playing or I come on there is no point thinking otherwise."
Piercy, banned for the LDV Vans Trophy tie at QPR on Sunday week, must wait to find out whether he or Hart gets the nod from McGhee against Wrexham.
"With the old manager (Steve Coppell) I was getting five or ten minutes, where as now I have played a couple of halves and a full game, which is more like it from my point of view," Piercy said.
"I'd love to stay in the side. Obviously Harty is a good player and he has done well. All I hope I've done is shown some people and the manager that he has got another option there.
"I probably surprised myself in a way because before the game I was against being on the right.
"I don't really like playing there but Dean White (reserve coach) pulled me aside and told me not to keep thinking I cannot play there, especially as I am right-footed."
Hart has been denied a run-out in the reserves against Aldershot at Worthing tonight.
The Pontin's Holidays Combination game has been postponed because the Woodside Road pitch is waterlogged.
Albion will not be facing Sir Alex Ferguson's son on Saturday. Wrexham midfielder Darren Ferguson begins a three-match ban.
