We often read criticism of the parking schemes in Brighton and Hove on this page and, although I might feel the enforcement side of parking is harsh, I would like to make a point that is often overlooked.
Every time I have needed advice about a particular parking problem, I have had the good fortune to contact the parking information centre in North Road and each time I have been greeted and informed with much courtesy and professionalism.
I recently received a parking ticket that I thought had been issued by an over-zealous warden and went to the parking information centre in the North Laine to complain.
I was angry when I went in but by the time I left it had been explained that the mistake was wholly mine as I had wrongly interpreted some signs in First Avenue.
A hefty portion of humble pie was served most delicately to me but a very complicated appeal system had been clearly explained.
I am still awaiting the outcome of my appeal but it was both a pleasure and surprise to be treated with such respect and professionalism when going into a local government office.
