A Sussex man has been charged under the Terrorism Act following a Sussex Police investigation into large-scale cheque and credit card fraud.
Noureddine Mouleff, an Algerian, of Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, was due to appear before Bow Street magistrates in London this morning.
Mouleff, 36, is charged under Section 57 of the act, which relates to the possession of articles in connection with terrorism.
He is also accused of conspiring with others to defraud banks of what Sussex Police said were "large sums" of money.
Mouleff was arrested on Tuesday last week.
Five other men, also from north Africa, were subsequently arrested at addresses in Eastbourne and Hastings.
Police said the five were continuing to be questioned under Section 17 of the Terrorism Act, which relates to arranging funds or property for the purposes of terrorism.
Police said their investigation was not connected to other terrorism-related arrests around the country.
The suspects were arrested following a Sussex Police investigation into large-scale cheque and credit card fraud.
Scenes-of-crime officers searched a first-floor flat in Pevensey Road, Eastbourne.
Items were seized but they did not include explosives.
Assistant Chief Constable Nigel Yeo said: "There is no connection with the arrests made under the act elsewhere in the country.
"This is a Sussex Police operation but we have been working closely with officers from the Metropolitan Police."
