Children fond of a nursery nurse who died after a tragic car crash hope to honour her with a lasting memorial.
Pupils, parents and staff want a permanent tribute to Vicki Browne who lost a month-long fight for life following the smash.
The 19-year-old's mother Tarnyar was a cook at Elm Grove Primary School in Brighton for many years.
Now the children are raising money to create a lasting tribute to Vicki.
Headteacher John Lynch said: "People here know Tarnyar and knew Vicki very well and everyone wanted to contribute."
The money will be used to buy a plaque to be erected in Gloucester Place Baptist Church in Brighton where Vicki's funeral was held last week.
The Reverend Malcolm Cook said: "We will welcome such a tribute. It will be given a place of honour."
Last week more than 150 people joined in the colourful service celebrating Vicki's life .
Vicki, 19, from Brighton, died a month after the accident in Portland Road, Hove, which also claimed the life of Natalie "Flo" McCabe, 21 from Shoreham.
Becky Fish, 20, left hospital for the first time since the accident on October 12 to attend the funeral and say goodbye to her friend.
A bouquet of tulips from DJ Norman Cook and his wife, presenter Zoe Ball, was among scores of arrangements displayed in the church entrance.
A handwritten card from the couple thanked Vicki for her help in looking after their son.
The children at the school sent a message which read: "Remembering Vicki, a lovely girl taken too soon into God's care. All our love, Elm Grove Primary School."
Vicki, who worked at a day nursery in Hove, lost both legs in the crash.
She was described at the funeral as "a lovely girl who always had a ready smile".
A 21-year-old barman has been charged with causing Vicki's death by dangerous driving.
Graham Travers, of Shelldale Road, Hove, is due to appear before Brighton and Hove magistrates tomorrow.
Travers is already facing a charge of causing the death by dangerous driving of Natalie McCabe.
He is also accused of having no licence or insurance and of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.
