Worthing lost top spot in the Kent/Sussex Regional League after losing 3-0 at Folkestone.
Joint skipper John Massie, who missed a penalty flick, said: "They had all the luck and we didn't have any. We hit a post and their keeper saved everything that came his way."
Bottom side Mid Sussex went down 4-1 to new leaders Sevenoaks, with Mike Jourdain hitting the consolation.
Skipper Andy Green said: "It gives us something to work on after Christmas. I am still confident we won't be relegated."
Horsham lost 5-2 at BBHC. Scorers were Ian Brown and Richard Lowe with a penalty flick won by 16-year-old newcomer Michael Roper.
Skipper Lowe said: "It was awful. There will be changes next year. We are trying to bring in a few more younger players."
In Kent/Sussex division one, Eastbourne turned in their best performance to date to beat Old Bordenians 5-3 and make it ten wins out of ten at midway.
Scorers were skipper Flo Pietzsch, Matt Copping (two), Dan Hill and an own goal.
Pietzsch said: "I have never beaten Old Bords in my time at Eastbourne so it was pleasing."
Crawley secured their first win of the season with 3-0 defeat of fellow strugglers Cliftonville. Kris Rai scored a hat-trick while keeper Gary Thornton kept his first clean sheet of the season.
Coach Daryl Luxford said: "There's still a lot to do to secure our position this year but this showed the great team morale there is in the side."
Andy Cockrell scored for Southwick in a 1-1 draw with Kings College London.
Bob Burns netted for Crowborough as they lost 3-1 at Old Williamsonians and South Saxons slipped 2-1 at home to Ashford despite Dan Burnett's goal.
