A brave first half effort was undone in a five-minute spell during the second period as Bognor fell to defeat at Canvey Island.
The first half was a pretty even affair with the home side having more of the possession.
A long ball forward from goalkeeper Bognor goalkeeper Craig Stoner almost saw Richard Hudson catch Danny Potter napping but the keeper did well to dive bravely at his feet.
Lee Boylan was only denied for the home side by an excellent tackle in the box by Steve Sargent.
Just before the break Boylan was again denied despite his close range effort surprising keeper Stoner.
Boylan gave the home side the lead in the 57th minute when he was allowed to guide home unchallenged a Jeff Minton corner.
Five minutes later Bognor found themselves further behind when yet another Minton corner appeared to have been cleared by John Price only for John Kennedy to rifle a low left-footed effort through the crowd.
With Bognor pushing forward they were caught by a sucker punch when substitute Junior McDougald, the former Albion striker, broke down the left and crossed for Neil Gregory to slot home in the 78th minute.
Bognor were rewarded for their efforts late in the game when Matt Russell turned his marker before curling an effort into the far corner of the net.
