Oh dear, Peter Millis (Letters, December 29) really does have a chip on his shoulder (and his paintwork).
Well, Mr Millis, I have absolutely no need for a four-wheel drive vehicle. I can neither afford to fill up one of these gas-guzzlers, nor have any use for one as all of my motoring is done in urban areas. I dare say your four-wheel drive never goes off-road - my word, think how dirty it would get.
This may come as a surprise to you but most of us two-wheel drive owners are considerate and in all my time of driving, I have never slid on ice. Would this be because of the grit and salt put down?
If you don't like the damage that is being caused, why not put your vehicle in a garage or cover it up?
Just think of the damage that could be caused if a car was to hit yours because there was no salt down. I bet you'd complain then.
