Benalmadena, on the Costa del Sol in Spain, has the right idea - put rubbish underground.
A pit the size of two parking spaces is excavated to hold large skip containers, covered by a hinged, paved lid, which is opened to remove the containers.
Coloured marked bins with revolving entrances (labelled for bottles, papers, rubbish etc) are shown on the lid.
These bins service more than 500 apartments.
Brighton and Hove could benefit from these units because black bin-liners are ripped apart by seagulls and rats.
