I write in support of the views expressed by Nancy Kiernan of St Patrick's Church, Hove (The Argus December 31), regarding Adam Trimingham's comments about parishioners' reaction to the report of the strategic review group on Brighton and Hove churches.
I understand that PCCs prefer to act through channels within the church.
I feel that in the case of All Saints Hove, there is no reluctance to speak out, but rather a feeling of helplessness.
At a well-attended meeting at the church in December, the PCC and the vicar made an excellent presentation of all aspects of the work of our church, both spiritual and social.
This was apparently received with scant sympathy by the Archdeacon, Mrs Pat Jones and Martin Cruttenden (members of the review group), who appeared to have little knowledge of All Saints and the constant hard work of a large body of loyal parishioners.
Many of us left the meeting saddened and angry at their attitude and considered some of their remarks offensive.
-Mrs Ann Fincham, Hove
