Adrian Moore retained the Sussex men's singles crown at Fontwell in a day of major upsets at the All-Sussex Championships.
The Bexhill player wrapped up the title with an emphatic 11-3, 11-9, 11-9 victory over the surprise finalist, veteran Terry Haley from Crawley.
In the semi-finals Haley produced the biggest shock to bring down the king of Sussex table tennis Ritchie Venner 15-13, 1-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9.
Moore, 38, said: "That was, I am told, the ninth time I have managed to win the Sussex title. If my body can stand the pace I hope to make it ten in 2005."
Moore has some way to go to beat Brighton's Roger Chandler, he landed the title 12 times.
Sarah Stedman, 26, from Arundel, claimed her first Sussex senior title after eight years of trying.
She beat Shelia King 11-3, 9-11, 12-10, 11-8 in the women's final.
King (Hastings), No. 12 on the England women's veteran ranks, exceeded all previous successes when she defeated the holder Rose Rainton (Bexhill) in the group stages before knocking Horsham's Sally Weston, another former winner, in the semi-finals.
Uckfield's Nigel Eckersley, England's No. 7 veteran, was the only Sussex winner at the London Open Grand Prix at Crystal Palace on Sunday. In the final he defeated Henry Medellin (Surrey) 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-4.
