I was delighted to read that under the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 2000, it is now possible to remove the driving licences from "boy racers".
More than a year ago I wrote a letter to The Argus drawing attention to the problem of joyriders in Stanmer Park, Brighton, which was once beautifully looked after.
Judging by its condition over the Christmas period, there has been little improvement.
Perhaps, rather than persuing expensive and largely unworkable schemes for electrically operated road humps and other types of barriers, the relatively inexpensive alternative of a few out-of-hours visits by council staff and the police would stamp out the joy-riders who desecrate the area with tyre and skid marks.
Entrances and exits are few and could be easily covered by a few people.
