Councillor Geoff Wells (Letters, January 8) says a water filter will remove fluoride - an ordinary filter will not.
Consumers would require reverse osmosis or distillation equipment. But customers are already paying for their water so why should they have to pay again to treat it at home?
It is the business of water companies to supply wholesome water to their customers.
It is not their business to deliver medications or treatments via the water supply.
If a doctor forced someone to take medication, he would likely be struck off the medical register or even jailed. Brighton and Hove City Council passed a motion last year to oppose water fluoridation.
I hope Coun Wells and his colleagues will uphold their duty to protect the rights of all of their constituents.
