I must correct your article, "Faulty Towers" (The Argus, January 5) on a few points.
The Argus has helped St Johns Mount resolve problems on many occasions, for which I thank you.
But as a resident I must say our building is in no way like Fawlty Towers. Over the past few years, the inside and outside has been undergoing a facelift.
For the past two years, the residents have had a monthly meeting with members of the council and builders.
This process has been slow but good, getting much-needed work done. We had a new foyer built and, due to vandalism, things went wrong with the new doorway. This was sorted out.
As to the intercom, at our last meeting with the council it was discussed and agreed we should have a new system installed.
As an ex-chairman and secretary of the committee, Tony Hawkins should remember that all jobs go out for tender and are not instant like a packet of Smash.
If Mr Hawkins was to be patient, he would find there is a greater picture being painted for St Johns Mount, the canvas becoming more colourful each year. We and the council work together to build a cleaner environment, not just for the tenants but those who live and use this area.
