The police officers who helped jail a man for the murder of a wealthy pensioner are to be commended at an awards ceremony.
The officers played crucial roles in securing the conviction of David MacBride, of Bramber Close, Bognor.
MacBride, 45, was jailed for life in July last year for killing Robert Saint, 70.
Lewes Crown Court heard train guard MacBride beat Mr Saint over the head on the pensioner's motorcruiser, The Sundowner, before dumping his body in the sea.
An awards ceremony for Sergeant James Trafford and detective constables Gary Hayes, Alan Pack and Mark Burgess will be held at Centenary House, Worthing, on January 23.
More than 20 others will be recognised at the ceremony for their outstanding work in the community.
Those receiving awards include three officers who calmed down a patient at Worthing Hospital as he stabbed himself in the head with a syringe and threatened to jump from the roof.
Another two officers handcuffed a suicidal man to a barrier and held on to him as he threatened to jump from a multi-storey car park in Worthing.
