Duncan Kneller insists he has never had any doubts about his Seaford side beating relegation.
After 17 games without a win, Seaford recorded a second successive triumph with a 2-1 success away to Wick in County League division two on Saturday.
The victory moved fourth-placed Seaford three wins clear of the drop zone and, with Haywards Heath and Pease Pottage having won just two games each all season, that already could be enough for Kneller's men.
Kneller's men? It is more like Kneller's boys as Saturday's starting line-up included five teenagers and just two players aged over 24.
The manager said: "I have never been overly concerned about the situation because we have been playing well even if we haven't been getting the results.
"I have always felt the side is good enough to play themselves out of trouble. I have a much younger side than last year but they are now finding their feet at this level.
"You do get doubts when you are a couple of points above the relegation zone but I have never lost faith with the team and to be fair to them, maybe because they are so young, they have never been downhearted with the situation."
Kneller's teenage son Adam opened the scoring on 42 minutes against a Wick side who had Hassan Yassan sent off in the opening 20 minutes for spitting.
Tony Miles replied for the hosts within a minute but 18-year-old Ben Dartnall struck the winner seven minutes into the second half.
Kneller's side entertain third from bottom Lancing on Saturday and he knows they must start producing their away form at home.
He said: "We only have three away games left and 11 at home. We haven't won at home yet so we need to produce some of our away performances at the Crouch.
"Of those 11, eight are against sides in the bottom eight so I am fairly optimistic we will not just get the points to stay up but maybe be able to move up the table."
