Hove produced what skipper James Finlason described as their "best performance of the season" to maintain their 100 per cent record in Sussex One with a 69-3 win over Burgess Hill.

Eighteen-year-old Matt Card scored a hat-trick and fellow colts player Yogev Sharp a brace while there were further tries for Phillip Beecham, Finlason, Carl Pittaway, Struan Robertson and Joe Carpenter. Martin Lovell kicked seven conversions.

Horsham are now the only realistic challengers for the title after beating Heathfield and Waldron 17-15.

After only managing a penalty from Bryn Jones in the first half Heathfield stormed back after the break with tries from Guy Woods and Jack Baylry and a conversion from Jones but it was not enough.

Seaford survived intense late pressure to beat Crowborough 26-22.

Seaford started well with a penalty from Ben Cox followed by a try from Ben Lane but Crowborough battled back to lead 15-10 at the break.

Cox kicked three further penalties and converted a Pete Joy try to put Seaford in control at 26-15 before Crowborough scored their third try.

Pulborough eased their relegation worries with a 27-0 home win against bottom club Rye with tries from Andy Bates, Phil Jennings and a penalty try, plus 12 points from the boot of Jonny Paige.

Sussex Police climbed off the bottom of Sussex Two by shocking former leaders Hellingly with two tries from Billy Burstow, one for Rob Blackett and a Phil Nicholas conversion to earn an 18-12 win.

Old Brightonians took advantage of Hellingly's unexpected slip to open up a two point lead at the top by beating Midhurst 41-0 at home.

Sam Howes, Steve Humphries, Tom Howell, Dan Heal, Ted Littlewood, Richard Duggan and Dougie Edmonds all scored tries while Howe added three conversions.

Royal Sun Alliance slipped to bottom spot after going down 8-3 at home to Newick.
