Two men who were shot in what police believe was a drug-related attack were still in hospital today.
One of the victims, who had a bullet wound in his arm, was found in St James's Street, Brighton, at 1am on Sunday. He had run more than 200yds from the corner of Carlton Hill and Egremont Road, where he was shot.
More than an hour later, another man was found shot in the neck at a house in Stanford Road, Preston Park.
Police believe the crimes were linked to drug dealing and are carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the Queen's Park area.
A Sussex Police spokesman said the man with the neck wound had improved but was still in a serious condition and had not been interviewed by police.
The spokesman said: "We think there was a group of four people just before the first attack near Queen's Park, one of whom was a female and another was the victim.
"We urge anyone who saw this group to contact us."
Another man, who was stabbed in his left leg during the attack, was released from Royal Sussex County Hospital on Sunday after treatment.
It is believed a handgun was used for the shootings.
Police have not yet arrested anyone for the attacks and no gun has been recovered.
Witnesses can contact police on 0845 6070999.
