After the news that the Heritage Lottery Fund had decided it was not brave enough to save one the British seaside's great temples of culture, I opened my curtains to see this view of the sad old lady decaying gently into the sea.

Brighton and Hove is marketed by the council as the "City by the Sea". But the councillors' indifference, shrugged shoulders and lack of drive and initiative have let this happen.
We need a vibrant tourist attraction at the west end of the promenade. Forget the eyesore being discussed for the King Alfred site.
I call on the council to step aside from its in-fighting and pull together an initiative for this site of international importance - and improve the view from my flat.
