We were devastated to hear that the Sussex Ice Rink in Brighton is to be closed for good (The Argus, February 6).
Having been to the rink for six years and attended some hockey sessions, we will be disappointed to see it closed.
The article shocked us, particularly after most of the sessions of Get Your Skates On at the Brighton Centre in December were packed.
Although it is good news there will be a new ice arena at Black Rock, we will have to wait until 2007 at the earliest before it is complete.
By the time a large rink is built, the people of Brighton will have lost a lot of their interest in skating. Surely Brighton and Hove City Council should be prepared to put some money towards the repairs?
If the rink is closed for good, it will be greatly missed by lots of skaters and would show just how uncaring the council is.
