Why has no one thought of enlarging and enhancing Withdean stadium?
The proposed stadium seating capacity at Falmer appears to be small in comparison to other stadiums in the country. Why have the planners kept its size so modest? Can it be a ploy to get planning permission with the least objection and, after it is built, to argue for expansion?
The more the football club and its members clamour for the site at Falmer, the more I am convinced they have little appreciation for nature and beauty. That part of the downs is beautiful and should be preserved.
Until the roundabout and slip road was built at the bottom of Falmer Road leading to the A27, it was almost impossible, and quite perilous, to get onto the A27 for the continuous stream of traffic.
I am afraid that if the stadium is allowed at Falmer, we will face that plight again.
