I was sad to read your article describing how middle-class parents see the primary schools in Brighton and Hove (The Argus, February 9).
Hertford Juniors is a good school, providing a creative curriculum and positive environment for the children of Hollingdean. The children reflect the community, just as those who go to Somerhill do.
The problem is that some middle-class families in the area would rather send their children to other schools, which is their loss.
The blame, however, does not lie with the parents but with Government policy-makers who promote parental choice at any cost.
Let's go back to catchment areas for schools so they can properly reflect their communities. Better still, come and visit Hertford Juniors yourself and see that our parents made a good decision and our children have a school they can be proud of.
