Trevor Benjamin is staying on loan with Albion for a second month.

Leicester striker Benjamin, who completes his first four weeks at Grimsby, agreed to an extension on Thursday.

Seagulls manager Mark McGhee is confident the continued presence of the big frontman can boost his side's play-off bid.

Benjamin has scored twice in four games but McGhee said: "Trevor hadn't had first team games this season when he first came and that is what he needed.

"He's had those with us so maybe he'll really come on in the next month.

"Leicester said it was okay for Trevor to extend his loan. It was then up to him. I've spoken to Trevor and he wants to stay. It is good news but Trevor knows that we expect the sort of performance he put in against Plymouth."

Benjamin's decision will ease Albion's striker problem. Leading scorer Leon Knight, sent off in the midweek defeat at Luton, is banned for the Stockport trip in a fortnight.

Stuart Jones, who made his full Albion debut at Kenilworth Road, is ready to continue in goal at Grimsby. Ben Roberts could be on the bench following his shin injury.

Jones, signed from non-league Weston-Super-Mare last week, was thrust straight into first team action against Wycombe last Saturday.

Paul Watson, who went off with a recurrence of a groin injury against Luton in midweek, is out of tomorrow's trip and so too is John Piercy because of an ankle injury.
