Susan Rakha has been named employee of the year at Eastbourne's five-star Grand Hotel.
Susan, a senior accounts executive, joined the hotel six years ago and her duties include banking, wages, purchase ledgers and invoices.
Members of staff at the hotel are nominated for awards by their department heads and Susan was delighted to hear she had won.
She said: "It was the first time I had been in line for an award." Susan won a two-night stay at a London hotel, with tickets for a theatre show.
Runner-up was conference, sales and banqueting co-ordinator Helen Prysor-Jones, who has been at the hotel for three years. She won a two- night stay at Tylney Hall in Hampshire, which is one of the Grand's sister hotels owned by Elite Hotels.
A new award for leader of the year, open to heads of department, was won by restaurant manager Andrew Dive. He also won an overnight stay at a London hotel.
