Burgess Hill manager Gary Croydon says the 4-1 defeat at Banbury United showed up the lack of strength in depth in his squad.
The Hillians had to substitute injured strikers Ashley Carr and top-scorer Nicky Sullivan at half time, while half-fit goalkeeper Pat Gannon had to play because of a midweek training ground injury to Paul Stark.
Substitute forward Shaheen Sadough cancelled out Chris Potter's first-half strike after the break, but three goals in the final eight minutes by George Redknapp (2) and Paul Eldridge gave United the points.
Croydon said: "At this level you need strength in depth and we just haven't got the resources at the moment. I can't go out and sign players when I get injuries like other teams can."
