Holidaymakers should head to Gatwick for the best shops according to the Consumers' Association (CA).
The South Terminal, along with Heathrow's Terminal 4, offers the best shopping experience at any British airport.
Research by the CA's Holiday Which? magazine also found smaller airports, such as Bristol and Liverpool, had the best-run terminals.
Cramped check-in halls and a lack of natural light were more likely to be complaints at bigger airports, the magazine added.
Holiday Which? rated Manchester as the best airport overall.
