Former Albion manager Micky Adams is poised to cut short Trevor Benjamin's loan spell with the Seagulls.

With Leicester fighting for Premiership survival, Adams wants Benjamin back with the Foxes to bolster a squad decimated by other loan deals and the imprisonment of three of his players in Spain.

Adams returned to Withdean last night to watch Benjamin score his fifth goal in nine games for Albion in a 3-0 win against Tranmere Rovers.

He revealed: "The likelihood is I will call Trevor back even if it is only for one game, but I am going to sit down with my secretary to see what is what.

"We have got a crisis at the club at the moment with seven or eight players into the second or third week of a loan, so we cannot recall them. Trevor is the obvious one we can get back and if we do, the likelihood is he will be on the bench for us against Birmingham on Saturday.

"In an ideal world I would want him to stay at Brighton, but after the events of the last few days I have got to put my club first."

Benjamin was made aware Adams would be at the match by Alan Cork, his former assistant at Albion who is also now his No. 2 at Leicester.

Benjamin said: "I had a phone call from Alan Cork in my hotel just before I left for the game.

"He just told me to beat a few people up for him and score a goal! If I get called back, that's a bonus."
