While both sides of the divide await the Deputy Prime Minister's decision on a football stadium at Falmer, the clans gather.
Withdean, Patcham and Whitehawk are united in declaring they do not want a permanent home for the Albion in their back yards.
No wonder then that Falmer, Lewes District Council, East Sussex County Council planners, the Countryside Agency, the Society of Sussex Downsmen, Woodingdean, Rottingdean and countless individuals are in sympathy with the protectionism expressed by the residents of these areas.
Mr Prescott has to take all of their opinions into consideration. The overall impression is that the vast majority do not want a stadium anywhere in the Brighton district.
-John Burt, Falmer
