Chris Iwelumo today joined Albion and will make his debut at Chesterfield tomorrow night.
The Seagulls have initially signed the 24-year-old striker from Stoke on loan so he can play at Saltergate. But he will then become a free transfer capture which means boss Mark McGhee can still make one more loan signing before the end of the season.
Iwelumo watched Albion's 1-1 draw against Stoke's Potteries neighbours Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday and had talks with Mark McGhee on Friday night.
He is desperate for regular first team football after being squeezed out at the Britannia Stadium because City manager Tony Pulis signed former Albion forward Ade Akinbiyi from Crystal Palace, Gifton Noel-Williams from Watford and Carl Asaba from Sheffield United.
Iwelumo started his career with St Mirren before joining Stoke from Danish club Aarhus for £25,000 in February 2000. He scored five goals in 32 games last season.
McGhee is still keen to re-sign Trevor Benjamin for a third and final month after he was recalled by Leicester.
