Kiba Richards (Brighton College) was in the England Schools' under-18s side defeated 13-6 by England Clubs in an international warm-up at Loughborough.

Alex Rogers, the England Club squad player and Sussex Downs (Lewes) student, missed the match with injury.

He has resumed training after a knee ligament problem and hopes to be fit for the Four Nations tournament next month.

Sussex under-15s were defeated 36-0 by Kent at Horsham with Alex Robertson (Hove) adjudged the county's star performer.

Sussex under-15s B overcame Kent 19-7. They were 14-0 up at the interval with tries by Chris Dingle (Worthing) and James Trevis (Brighton) converted by Rob Raymond (Uckfield). Matt Tanner (Hove) extended the lead. Kurt Butler (Brighton) impressed on his debut and was named man-of-the-match.

Hove Park defeated Longhill 5-0 in the Brighton, Hove and District under-14s ten-a-side tournament final at Waterhall. Cardinal Newman and Varndean were beaten semi-finalists.

Lewes Colts overcame Worthing 19-0 in the Sussex League. Their tries came from Jack Nayler (2) and Gareth Pond, with Charlie Bargery and David Lear kicking a conversion each.

Lewes under-14s beat Hastings 40-0 in the league and the under-13s beat the same club by the same score in a friendly.

Hove claimed the best club award at the Staines Mini Festival after the under-eights and under-12s won their age groups. The under-11s and under-tens were finalists and the under-sevens made the semis.

The under-eights defeated Twickenham 35-15 in the final with Toby Brown, Tom Doughty and Toby Smith scoring their tries. The under-12s beat Teddington 24-0 in their final. Alex Marsh, Ben Ward, George Whiting and Joss Hatcher scored.
