I was a visitor to the Green Party conference.

It was refreshing to listen to people who could speak honestly and informedly without need for speech writers, drama coaches or crocodile tears and who don't believe in the new religion - "Money Is Everything."

I was saddened by your silly "Opinion" article (The Argus, March 12) and wish the media would stop underestimating the intelligence of its audience and the gravity of environmental issues.

Part of your job is to entertain but people are, quite rightly, very worried about what we are doing to our world and not very hopeful about the future for our children and grandchildren.

Feeling powerless to do anything we go down the pub and try not to think about it. You do us no favours by taking the mickey out of people who are offering solutions.

If you hadn't been so busy counting beards and obsessively looking for lentils you might have noticed an air of hope and optimism. What's wrong with jumpers anyway?
