Call me old-fashioned but I thought we voted for our Members of Parliament on what they stand for, what they have delivered and what they can deliver for us in the future.
The coverage of the Conservative candidates in Brighton and Hove (The Argus, March 1) tells us one rides a motorcycle and one shops at Gap. It also tells us about their favourite TV programmes and pubs and clubs.
The sole woman candidate reveals that she dyes her hair red. Ronald McDonald dyes his hair red but that doesn't mean I want him to be my MP.
All of this jumping up and down to demonstate how the Conservative party has changed fools no-one and is unfair on the people forced to carry it out.
Only a few weeks ago, The Argus carried a rather good article by David Gold on the changes in the Conservative Party.
Unfortunately, it came out on the same day as Anne Winterton's offensive "joke" about the deaths in Morecambe bay.
Of course, when it comes to a seat such as Kensington and Chelsea that the Conservatives are bound to win which cutting edge Tory is selected? Malcolm Rifkind - Keeper of the Royal handbag at the Court of Queen Thatcher.
No wonder Michael Portillo went running for the chequebooks.
