In response to the excellent article by Brendan Montague on modern Conservatives (The Argus, March 15), I would just like to clarify one point.
Some people have taken my comments about needing to look at the role of the Monarchy as indication of some sort of "anti-Monarchy" view.
Nothing could be further from the truth. I look up to, admire and respect the Queen and the Royal Family and am in favour of maintaining the tradition.
We live in an ever-changing world which has been well served in recent years by the monarchy's absolute loyalty and dependability.
Her Majesty has served our country for 50 years. How many of us can claim that sort of unfailing devotion to a difficult job?
-Mike Weatherley, Brighton Pavilion Conservative Parliamentary Candidate
