With reference to the Bentley Wildfowl Centre (The Argus, March 10), Daphne Bagshaw is incorrect when she states that she can't give away taxpayers' property.
If East Sussex County Council sent a questionnaire to constituents asking what they should do with Bentley, the answer would be unanimous - give it back to Mrs Askew.
The council accepted the park, obviously without doing its homework and now, because it can't make it run, wants to get shot of it.
Wasn't it a nice gesture to give Mrs Askew first refusal?
I suggest all the people who have enjoyed the centre send Mrs Askew a pound coin to help buy back the property.
I wonder what the council plans to do with it if Mrs Askew doesn't come up with an answer. Bentley new town would be nice.
I'd also like to know what will happen to the wildfowl. You can't relocate all of them, there are too many.
