East Brighton can look forward to a run in the Davies and Tate Trophy if their tied match with Sussex is anything to go by.
The club face a huge task with a first round match at Crowborough followed by a daunting visit to Worthing if they get through.
The wind is always an important element at East Brighton and Colin Wells, the Sussex captain, said: "Golf was very difficult. Wayne Hawes and Arwell Roberts were our only players who knew how to play below and against the wind.
"Before entering into any championships our players must learn how to play these shots."
A bonus for Sussex was the introduction of Joe Slade, 16, from East Brighton, who stepped in at the last minute and won his foursomes partnered by Henry Hilton.
Wells said: "Joe is a good prospect with manners and etiquette to match."
