Jay Richardson is anxious to earn a regular spot as Eastbourne Borough push for a place in the top 13 of the premier division.
The 24-year-old midfielder was unable to command a starting spot at premier division leaders Crawley and has been allowed to leave.
Richardson, who has also played for Chelsea and Exeter, said: "The main thing for me is to play first team football and put myself in the shop window."
Richardson could soon get his chance because Borough skipper Daren Pearce is facing a one-match ban after being sent off against Albion Reserves last week.
Borough travel to Hinckley United tomorrow and manager Garry Wilson has a full squad to choose from.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Paul Stark has returned to Borough from Burgess Hill.
The Hillians signed the big stopper permanently after a loan spell to cover for the injured Pat Gannon but Gannon is now fit so Stark has been transfered back to Priory Lane.
Bertie Foster, son of former Albion skipper Steve, is one of a number of young players set to be given an extended chance in the run-in to the season.
