On Friday I was involved in helping a young lady who had been a victim of a road accident outside my house on Old Shoreham Road.
I found her lying on the ground outside my home with a very bad head injury and what looked like a broken leg.
I am writing in praise of our emergency staff who dealt with this incident and the kind onlookers who raced to assist.
Although an incident like this is unfortunately an everyday occurrence in the working day of our emergency staff, we rarely get to thank them publicly for their life saving work.
I am also pleased to discover a trauma counselling service being offered at Royal Sussex County Hospital for anyone involved at any level in a tragic event like this.
Although our concern is primarily with the victim of an accident, such an event can leave a witness with very disturbing thoughts and feelings which this service helps to understand. I am very relieved to discover that the young lady involved in this accident is still alive and recovering in hospital.
