Martin Bailey, erstwhile leader of the Neighbourhood Wardens in East Brighton, emigrated to New Zealand in November last year.
Now, it looks as though New Zealand is the in thing among staff at the designated Community Safety team in East Brighton (The Argus, March 26).
There may have been a five per cent reduction in recorded crime here in East Brighton. I think that is more due to the fact that local people are fed up with reporting it.
When the Community Safety Team was first set up, people believed it would change things. Now local residents are even more fearful of reporting because of reprisals. Nothing changed except for the ferocity of the reprisals if you do report.
It may only be £6,500 in total for the Police and EB4u but there are still the wages to be paid for Sergeant Tony Lumb - and his replacement while he is away.
Also, how much is it going to cost to send Paul Stewart, victim support worker and current Restorative Justice employee? Who will foot that bill? Lastly, but not least, how about sorting out the mess at home first.
