Albion manager Mark McGhee asked his players today for a magnificent seven to snatch automatic promotion.
McGhee believes they must win all of their remaining games to grab the runners-up spot behind runaway leaders Plymouth after Robbie Mustoe's last-gasp goal for Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hillsborough.
"Everybody has been asking if we still feel the automatic spot is up for grabs," he said.
"I believe it is and I told the lads four or five weeks ago we could afford to lose one game.
"We have lost that game and now I think to get automatic promotion we have to win the last seven. That is a tall order but we are going to have a go."
McGhee and man of the match Guy Butters played down an incident at the final whistle involving referee Eddie Evans, reserve team coach Dean White and Leon Knight, who was booked in the first half against his former club.
Butters said: "There was nothing in it really, the ref just grabbed hold of Leon and led him away.
"One of the stewards got involved, pushing Dean White out of the way. Tempers were boiling and we were obviously disappointed by losing. Hopefully nothing will come of it."
Captain Danny Cullip, forced off at half-time with a recurrence of thigh trouble, is doubtful for Saturday's home game against Hartlepool.
David Lee is still hoping for a new contract after attracting interest from Grimsby before last week's transfer deadline.
Lee, 24 yesterday, made his full League debut for Albion on Saturday in place of Gary Hart, who stayed behind with his wife for the birth of their second child.
