Brighton and Hove has seen a real upturn in its fortunes over the past few years, says a new report.
Setting the Scene, A Review of the Brighton and Hove Economy 2004, has been produced by the city council's economic development team.
It says unemployment is falling and average earnings are increasing more rapidly than in the rest of England.
Don Turner, lead councillor for economic development, said: "This report investigates matters which affect all of us."
It gives information on important trends such as the city's demographic structure, travel-to-work patterns, business competitiveness, the labour market and learning skills.
