Lewes-based Owen Williams has been named Britain's top civil engineering consultant after increasing turnover by 50 per cent in three years.
The company, which has a group turnover of £35million, received the accolade at the Consultant of the Year Awards, sponsored by trade magazine New Civil Engineer (NCE).
Owen scooped the top prize from 300 other consultancies across the UK at a ceremony at London's Claridges Hotel.
The firm, which works on railways, road and property, has generated hundreds of jobs in the last year after winning several major contracts.
Last year Owen, which recently won a seven-year contract with West Sussex County Council, was runner-up in two catagories at the Sussex Business Award.
Richard Williams, Owen Williams chief executive, said the NCE award was a 'great achievement'.
