A brother-sister duo from Brighton hope their close bond will help them achieve similar chart success to the Gallaghers and Minogues.
Redcherry will record their first single in New York with the record label which looks after Bjrk.
Davey "Red" Stokes, 17, and his 16-year-old sister Cherry were discovered by band manager Mark Turner a year ago after he saw them singing karaoke in their local pub.
Their sound, a combination of Cherry's vocals and Red's rapping, has attracted the attention of some major players in the music industry.
Redcherry have worked with producer George McFarlane, who has had hits with Gabrielle and Sting among others, and signed to Bjrk's label One Little Indian.
Cherry said: "I have always loved singing and performing on stage and when Mark said I had potential it was like a dream come true. The last year has been fantastic."
Redcherry have already performed in front of thousands of people across the country supporting boy bands like D-Side and Phixx.
Red said: "We both love entertaining the crowds. Our music is a really interesting combination of R'n'B and hip hop with our own distinctive twist. We work really well together. If we were not related our sound would probably be different and I think it feels quite fresh."
While Red cites his favourite band as American rockers Limp Bizkit and Cherry admires female vocalists like Christina Aguilera and Pink, both agree their parents, who are ex-musicians, have been their biggest influence.
They still live with mum Ann in Buxted Rise, Brighton, while dad Harry lives in Spain.
Red said: "We were always surrounded by music when we were young and our parents always encouraged us to develop our talent. When Mark spoke to mum she was really excited and came up with a massive list of names we could use."
Since leaving Dorothy Stringer High School last year, Red has been able to concentrate on writing raps and music full-time. Things have been more complicated for Cherry, who has had to squeeze in rehearsals alongside studying for GCSEs at Brighton and Hove High School for Girls.
Redcherry will be flown out to New York to record their first single after Cherry finishes her GCSEs.
Red said: "Going to America will be fantastic as it's a big part of the kind of music I listen to and my style."
Cherry added: "Hopefully this will be the start of something big."
