Regarding the letter from Dave Stone (March 25), he doesn't know the full facts about that fateful night.
The girls did know the driver but they only met up with him late that evening. They did not know he had been drinking earlier.
The reason the three girls were not wearing seatbelts is that when they got into the back seat they were not given the time to put their seat belts on as he sped off down the road at 80mph in a 30mph speed zone.
He had no driving licence or insurance. He should not have been behind the wheel of a car and should not have put those girls' lives in danger.
Our daughter was a very sensible girl and very cautious, especially when travelling in a car. She would be the first to buckle up and remind her sister to do the same.
