I suggest that, rather than dwelling on his festering hatred for sections of society less able or fortunate than himself, Tony Booker spends some of his spare time counting his blessings (Letters, March 27).
For starters, not having to suffer the indignity of unemployment. Having a home near the sea and the South Downs and an active, if somewhat narrow mind are also blessings not to be dismissed lightly.
Despite his protestations, people retiring now are better off than previous generations and the low inflation and economic stability we are currently enjoying are good news for his future standard of living, even after allowing for Council Tax.
Maybe if he really were to be reincarnated as a "black lesbian single parent asylum seeker" the experience would wake him up to the realities of life that are stoically borne by many of his fellow human beings.
